I have been unwell for the last 3/4 months and have been
diagnosed with a number of different cancers and any one
of which can be terminal.
However this is not the purpose of this post but I do
want to place on record the kindness, consideration, and
sheer professionalism of John Thompson and his staff,.
I have had numerous visits to hospitals, consultants,
etc and Houston has taken me in to keep these
appointments, They are always on time and totally
reliable and treat their patients with kindness and
respect,.
To give you an example, Yesterday morning they took me
in to Paphos to see a maxillofacial surgeon to have some
dental work on my jaw prior to embarking on treatment
for bone cancer, The procedure was quite harrowing .
Later that evening I found that I was retaining urine
which became extremely painful.
At 1.30 a,m my wife called Houston on their emergency
number and they were around in about 10 minutes. I was
quickly assessed and with blues and twos blazing was
taken into the General in Paphos.
The General quickly sorted me out by inserting a
catheter. They were quick and professional but then said
you must now go home.
Another call to Houston around 4.00.a.m. and they came
back to the General and took me home. They will be
taking me to see my Consultant at the Iasis early Monday
morning.
I just wanted members to know how much my wife and I
value this organisation . We would have no hesitation in
recommending them to others.

Dear Mr. Thompson,
Thank you, thank you for your vision in establishing the
Houston Medical Ambulance Service. I don't quite know
how my husband and I would have managed during his
recent illness without help from your teams.
They could
not have been more efficient, reliable or pleasant.
Knowing that they were there at the end of the phone
line took a tremendous load off my shoulders during a
very stressful time.
I wish you every success. You are meeting a very real
need in this community.
Yours sincerely,
Tessa Lewis
Dear John & Grace.
Many many thanks for sorting out my friend - he is at
the Iasis now getting a CT scan they believe it’s a
cracked vertebrae so he will be in the clinic for a few
days under supervision. Your chaps were superb very
professional and caring so good job - Gordon needs to
know the cost now of his 'rescue' he has insurance etc
so can you let me know the amount to be paid for this
wonderful job done .
Many Thanks
Jill xxxx
Dear John I wish to thank you for
your kindness to me when I passed out at the restaurant
in Chloraka on my recent holiday to Cyprus. On my return
home to Liverpool I went for a medical. I am undergoing
a series of tests to check me out thoroughly. The doctor
confirms your diagnosis that food is not to blame and
that taste in fact can be affected when a 'turn' like
that is coming on - hence why I thought the food didn't
taste so good. I do hope I did not spoil the evening for
yourself and your company and you will dine at Jo's
again. Please pass on my apologies to your friends. Once
more may I thank you from myself and my family - you
certainly put them at rest by your care and attention.
May God bless you for your kindness. Rada.
Hi John,
This is great news. I wish you lots of luck. We all know
that the waiting time for an ambulance in the Paphos
area is far too long (there are so many cases of 'dead
on arrival' , so I really do hope that lots and lots of
people will start doing the courses as all help is
desperately needed.
Thanks again John for this great initiative.

CHARITY LADIES EVENING AT GINA’S
PLACE
Gina’s Place – (the deli with a difference) in Kato
Paphos opened their doors to Houston Medical Services as
their Guest Speaker for their monthly Charity Ladies
Evening last Feb. 27, 2007. John Thompson, Chief
Paramedic Officer was invited by Gina to explain and
demonstrate the importance of being able to carry out
CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) to her lady
customers.
John, using his latest equipment from his newly acquired
Ambulance wheeled an adult mannequin on a stretcher into
the shop and proceeded to exercise the mouth to mouth
resuscitation technique. He then invited the ladies
replicate his actions. This was received with both
enthusiasm and humour.
All ladies were greeted to the background music of
Casualty and ER and given a “Bloody Mary” to set the
mood. The entire shop was decorated with medical
supplies and equipment such as bed pans etc. The ladies
were all equipped with a mini first aid kit and Gina and
her staff dressed as nurses and doctors.
The Result?? All ladies left knowing they could possibly
save a life. Several of them booked up with Houston
Medical to further improve their first aid knowledge and
everyone donated £3CP to the ongoing Breast Cancer
Awareness campaign.
We found the course informative and explained in a
simple but effective manner. We feel we are now able to
give immediate help if and when needed. Thank you.
