Houston Medical Ambulance Service

The current private and state operated ambulance services fall well below the average standard of the services provided within the majority of other EU countries.

Our intention is to introduce qualified Paramedics into our Ambulances, ensuring that the patient receives professional medical treatment from the time that the Ambulance arrives at the location of the patient. The treatment will continue until the patient is handed over to the Accident and Emergency Department of a hospital or clinic.

CUSTOMER

We see our customer base as being multifaceted and having three very important elements.

A. The Local population
By way of a minimal cost per household, we shall provide 24 hours per day, 7 days per week cover for our clients. It is calculated that for every 1000 households who enter into a contract with us, we will be able to crew an Ambulance with qualified personnel, maintain the vehicle and supply support services (i.e. call centre, accounts and administration). Another stream of revenue will be received from Insurance Companies whenever we transport one of their customers.

B. Tourism
The majority of tourists arriving on the island will carry travel insurance which will include a section for medical treatment. Tour operators and Hotels will be targeted, in conjunction with a private Hospital facility, to offer both Medical and Ambulance services to support their clients. This service will also encompass patient transfers to or from Paphos and Larnaca International Airports.

C. Events
Sporting and cultural events need to have medical coverage on site. Litigation being the norm these days, sporting and cultural events organisers should be ever-mindful of the need to have Medical coverage on site at such events. We shall be able to provide such a service and look upon this as an additional stream of revenue.

LOCATION

It is our intention to base our company in Paphos, with a population of approximately 68,000 local and expatriate (Dec 2005 figure). This is an ideal area to start our services. It is our intention to base our first ambulance in a central location with easy access to both the main tourist area and outlying residential areas. As our customer base expands and our revenue stream increases, we will introduce other ambulances at strategic points around the city with a view to increasing the area to be given coverage by our service.

OUR VISION

Houston Medical Ambulance Service will become the cornerstone of a service which will provide the highest levels of support and care for the sick and injured. By use of modern technology, we will create a secure database to hold our entire customer details; the data recorded will include medical information. This data will then be used to provide our customers/clients with the best possible support.

Part of the database will be used to hold directions to each and every client location to ensure that any Ambulance despatched will arrive at the patient with a minimum of delay. The Paramedic, being part of the Ambulance team will be provided with basic medical information to ensure that he/she is aware of any existing condition or allergy the patient may have prior to the Ambulance being dispatched to the patient’s location.

We see Houston Medical Ambulance Services as a unique opportunity to introduce the residents of Cyprus and its visitors to a sophisticated ambulance service which will be comparable with the best in the EU.
